• Preliminary results of the phase II study using tenofovir as the HIV prevention in pay or bisexual patients showed safety. The study was conducted through the collaboration between different government, state, and public agencies. (http://www.thebody.com/content/news/art57741.html)

• Merck & Co has announced that it will purchase the dengue fever vaccine research unit of Hawaii Biotech. Hawaii Biotech has just filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December. Its tetravalent dengue vaccine is currently in the phase I trial. Other vaccine such as West Nile virus, has just completed phase 1 trial. • The US FDA has approved the new dose of Aricept or donezepil as the treatment of moderate-to-severe Alzheimer’s Disease, Eisaie and Pfizer announced. (http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20100723-714235.html)

• The development of tanespimycin as the potential treatment of multiple myeloma has been halted. Bristol-Myers Squibb decided to terminate the development of the program due to difficult manufacturing and its short-remaining patent life. Tanespimycin is a heat sock protein 90 inhibitor. Hello!


This is the late report that should have come out yesterday.  The place I was at did not allow connection to blogspot.  But anyway, we're now back online.
